Baby's First Hikes, 5K and 15K

This summer has been crazy!! Lots of things going on! This post will be on, what I feel, our (mine and Baby's) biggest accomplishments while being preggo.

We were able to go on a few hikes this summer. We went and did the Wind Caves with a group of friends-I'll admit, it's frustrating not being able to hike and breathe like I used to. We did that when I was about 21 weeks along. It was very fun though!

We also accidently went on a hike during our road trip! It was SO pretty! I was about 25 weeks along on that hike. It was only about a 4-mile hike but it was also a 'moderate-intense' hike according to the map we looked at. It went up around Mendenhall Glacier in Juneau, Alaska. Todd enjoyed the picture opportunities on the hike. There were lots of waterfalls! It was a good hike though! We enjoyed it!

It's hard to see but the white thing behind Todd is the glacier

I also had a chance to go on a 15-mile hike while I was staying in Fairbanks with some friends. The group consisted of me and Baby, Annie Enderle and her sister Eva and Jenna Henrie. I won't lie. That was probably the hardest thing I've done this whole pregnancy. If you were to ask me if I was going to do it again right after we finished....that would have been a definite NO. It was really pretty though!! My 7 month pregnant body just wasn't very happy with the hills and climbing. Thinking back now though, I would do it again! The sign at the beginning of the trail said to plan 8-10 hours roundtrip for 'able-bodied' hikers. We totally thought we could do it in 4 hours! Well! Turns out we're 'able-bodied' hikers. We started at 8:30 am and
got done at 5:30 pm-that's a good 9-hour day I'd say! :) It's a fun hike.

We made it to the end!!!

We also got to do some running races this summer! I wasn't sure at the beginning of the summer if I would be doing any of them but when it came down to it....I started AND finished them!! I also set two goals for both races....run the entire time (except on the hill during the 15K) and have a quicker time than last summer's 5K (3.1 miles) and 15K (9.3 miles) races. I am very proud to say that I accomplished both goals in both races!!! :) The 5K was for Nibley City's Heritage Days and the 15K was the Freedom Run during the 4th of July weekend in Hyrum. During the 5K I was 20 weeks pregnant and the 15K I was 22 weeks along. I don't have any pictures for these...dang.

Pretty fun summer on the active side of things!! I think that about does it! For this post anyways!!

See you later!

P.S. I hope this post doesn't seem like I'm bragging about doing all that-it's just what Baby and I did this summer together (Todd was there too) and it wasn't exactly the easiest things to do!

The Baby Belly Begins....

Well! We're back in Barrow!! Crazy!! We love being back though! We feel like we're home! Well! I said I would be putting 'weekly' pictures up but having no internet kind of puts a damper on things! We left Utah July 6th and took pictures during our road trip. Speaking of our road trip...I'm currently in the process of putting it all together on a website so everyone can go look and read about it! It'll be done....soonish! :)

Anyways!! Here's the pictures!! :)

BOY or GIRL?

We got our wish!!! We for sure thought our little one was going to be a girl! When we went in for the Ultrasound the tech asked what we thought we were going to have and we said 'a girl'. A little while later he then said, 'you guys are definitely having a boy'! We were so surprised!! We were talking and said something like, 'well I guess we got what we wanted' and he said, 'I thought you wanted a girl.' We then went on to explain that we really wanted a boy but were almost positive it was a girl!! We even put blue shirts on (not on purpose) and were joking about it that maybe it will increase our chances of it turning into a boy!! Something must have worked!! :) Exciting!!

Everything else looked healthy! Which is really what matters! We couldn't see little one's face because he was so tightly curled up in a ball in the bottom of the uterus though. He had all this space to move around in and he chose just to stay put despite the tech jiggling my stomach with the wand and me moving side to side. He wouldn't budge!! We've got a stubborn one on the way!! :)

Our due date has changed to October 30th which I'm pretty excited about. It's now on an even day.... :)

Well that's about it!! I've officially started showing now so I'll start putting weekly (that's a jump I know) pictures up!!

Oh and more good news....I'm half way!! Today is week 20!!! Pretty weird!!!

A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words

We're expecting!!! :) Our little one is due October 29th, 2010. We are so excited and can't wait!! :)

This is our first picture as a family. We took it right after I told Todd we were having a baby. :) I had this whole plan of telling Todd. I had ordered a onsie that said, 'If you think I'm cute, you should see my Daddy' and then I was going to give him one of his favorite childhood books so he could read it to our baby. This was all planned for his birthday which would mean I would be about 7 weeks along. Well. I can't keep a secret that long and since I knew we were expecting pretty quick that would have been a REALLY long time!! I still gave him the gifts on his birthday but it wasn't as cool as if I had given them to him and said, 'Oh, and by the way we're having a baby too!' The way I really told him was during our FHE lesson and it was his turn to give it. We've been waiting for a family for a long time now and he had based his lesson on having a family. So...when he started talking about the Lord's timing, and having a family I couldn't keep a straight face and so I ended up telling him. I was really mad at myself!! I'm glad I told him though, it was such a relief. It was nice to be able to start having prenatal care also and have him involved.

We have more pictures to post of us telling our families and ultrasounds but I don't have them...of course...on the computer yet. I'll post them soon!! Promise! :)

Hope you have a good day!! :)

Bittersweet

Well!!!

schools_out.gif

It's so weird! I've only been up here for the last half of the school year but it feels like it's gone so quickly!! Good news too!! We're/Todd is 1/30th of the way to retirement!! :) Wahoo!! :)

Tomorrow marks our D-day! It feels really weird to be leaving Barrow and not coming back for a few weeks. It's almost sad!! Almost!! I'll really miss all of our friends up here! I was also thinking about it and Logan doesn't have a lot of people but being up here has made me really comfortable with not seeing anyone except Todd for a few days in a row.....I could possibly have many panic attacks just being around my family!!! Sad I know!! :) I'm just used to quiet!! Really quiet!!!

Good news....(strong sarcasm)...Todd got an e-mail this morning about how Barrow is quarantining all the animals in the city for rabies because of the foxes around here. Well on the bottom of the flyer it said-"If you plan on leaving Barrow you need a vet letter from the vet clinic approving travel". Ok. First of all, all (ok maybe not all) the teachers in Barrow have animals. Second of all, most of the teachers will be leaving on tomorrow's Great White Flight (that's what the natives call the flight because most of the white people leave the day after school gets out). Why did they send that e-mail out a day before everyone was supposed to leave??? I called the vet to see if we could get in and get our little Kali approved-come on she hasn't been outside since November, how would she have gotten rabies???-she had one cancellation thankfully so we'll be able to leave with our kitty. Next obstacle....making sure the airline will let her come with us. They usually only let 2 animals in the cabin as carry-on.....a teacher that is leaving on the flight has 2 little dogs that will be going with him. Great!!! :)

Anyways!!! I'm done complaining!! We just have lots to get done before tomorrow night and it's slightly overwhelming!! But it will be good to leave and see family!! We are so excited!! I could barely sleep last night because of all the butterflies in my stomach from thinking about seeing my family!!! :)

Well I think that's about it!! :) Have a good day!!

The Best Part of Waking Up

I just love having Todd home again!! It's so much easier to fall asleep and wake up in the morning!! It's a lot warmer in the bed too!! I'm such a cold person all the time!! :)

Anyways!! We made it!! It really felt like forever that Todd was gone though! When he got home I was about to tell him all that had happened with the Branch and all that had been going on at school and then I remembered...he had been here for all that!! :)

He was able to get on an earlier flight and came home 2 hours earlier which was so nice!!! We were able to go to the high school graduation together!! It was a really good graduation I thought. I forgot to take pictures of the gym which I am so mad at myself for....I told myself Thursday, Friday and Saturday not to forget to get pictures of the gym! Sure enough!! :) No pictures! The seniors decorated the gym themselves and they went all out....seriously! It looked really nice! It was only an hour and a half to two hours long so it wasn't bad at all. We got there late too because Todd's flight came in at 5:30 and it started at 5.

We watched The Princess Bride after the graduation. I'm so proud of myself too.....I stayed awake for the whole movie!! I will admit....I have never seen The Princess Bride. Todd was so ashamed of me!!! Hahaha!! He told me, "how am I supposed to take a wife home to my family this summer that has never seen Princess Bride?" I went out and found a friend that had The Princess Bride and now he no longer has to be ashamed of his wife!! :) It was a pretty good movie too. :)

Well I think that's it for now! Sorry about the no pictures! I'll do better! :) 5 days until we leave Barrow!!! Only 4 days of school left!!!! Yeah!!!!! :)
